Red Snakebush (Hemiandra gardneri) is a prostrate shrub, forming a mat up to two metres in diameter. It flowers attractive bell-shaped dark red to pink flowers and grows in deep sandplains and hills in low Banksia woodlands. In 1995 this species was ranked as critically endangered due to invasive species and spreading fires. There are organisations however that are working very hard to preserve their dwindling numbers.
