CLASSIC RUB-A-DUB BBQ STEAK

pREP TIME: 10 MINUTES

COOK TIME: 8-12 MINUTES

Ingredients

  • For the Steak:

    • 2 x 300 g ribeye, sirloin, or porterhouse steaks

    • 2 tbsp olive oil

    • 2 tsp Rub-A-Dub Smoky Pepperberry Seasoning

    • 1 tsp salt

    • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • Optional Sides and Garnishes:

    • Grilled vegetables (zucchini, bell peppers, asparagus)

    • Fresh parsley, chopped

Method

  1. Prepare the Steaks:

    • Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Brush both sides with olive oil and season generously with Rub-A-Dub Smoky Pepperberry Seasoning, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. For extra flavor, let the steaks marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  2. Preheat the BBQ Grill:

    • Heat your BBQ grill to high (about 220–250°C). Ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  3. Cook the Steaks:

    • Place the steaks on the grill. For medium-rare (recommended), cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Adjust cooking time based on your preferred doneness:

      • Rare: 2–3 minutes per side (internal temp 50°C)

      • Medium-rare: 3–4 minutes per side (internal temp 55°C)

      • Medium: 4–5 minutes per side (internal temp 60°C)

      • Medium-well: 5–6 minutes per side (internal temp 65°C)

  4. Rest the Steaks:

    • Remove the steaks from the grill and cover loosely with foil. Let them rest for 5–7 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  5. Serve:

    • Slice the steak against the grain and serve with grilled vegetables, a sprinkle of fresh parsley, salt and fresh pepper.

Suggestions for Dietary Needs

  • Vegan: Replace steak with thick-cut portobello mushrooms or a marinated eggplant slice. Use the same Smoky Pepperberry seasoning and grilling technique.

  • Vegetarian: Try a plant-based steak alternative, grilled tofu, or halloumi.

  • Gluten-Free: This recipe is naturally gluten-free. Ensure all sides and condiments are gluten-free as well.
